Egyptian Internet Crisis

The following message was leaked from egypt: (I have made minimal changes to the original message)

To all the people of world

The people in Egypt are under governmental siege. Mubarak regime is banning Facebook, Twitter, and all other popular internet sites. Tomorrow the government will block the 3 mobile phone network and the internet completely. And there is news that even the phone landlines will be cut tomorrow, to prevent any news agency from following what will happen.

Suez city is already under siege now. The government cut the water supply and electricity, people, including, children and elderly are suffering there now. The patients in hospitals cannot get urgent medical care. The injured protesters are lying in the streets and the riot police are preventing people from helping them. The families of the killed protesters cannot get the bodies of their sons to bury them. This picture is the same in north Saini (El-Sheikh zoyad city) and in western Egypt (Al-salom). The riot police is cracking down on protesters in Ismailia, Alexandria, Fayoum, Shbin Elkoum, and Cairo, the capital, in many neighbourhoods across the city.

The government is preparing to crackdown on the protesters in all Egyptian cities. They are using tear gas bombs, rubber and plastic pullets, chemicals like dilutes mustard gas against protesters. Several protesters today have been killed when the armored vehicles of the riot police hit them. Officials in plain clothes carrying blades and knives used to intimidate protesters.

All this has been taken place over the past three days during the peaceful demonstrations in Cairo and other cities. Now, with the suspicious silence of the local media and the lack of coverage from the international media, Mubarak and his gang are blocking all the channels that can tell the world about what is happening.

People who call for their freedom need your support and help. Will you give them a hand?

The activists are flooding the net (Youtube and other sites) with thousands of pictures and videos showing the riot police firing on armless people. The police started to use ammunition against protesters. 15-year old girl has been injured and another 25 year old man has been shot in the mouth. While nothing of these has appeared in the media, there is more to happen tomorrow. Will you keep silent? Will you keep your mouth shut while seeing all these cruel and inhumane actions?

Salvo charity stores hit the web launching first online store

TRAWLING for a designer bargain at the Salvos just got a whole lot easier with the op shop launching Australia’s first online charity shore.

The Salvation Army hopes the move into cyberspace will encourage fashionistas to “shop with a conscience” and keep the charity relevant to modern day shoppers.

Beauty, collectables, jewellery and accessories will also be on offer.

The website, which launches at 9am tomorrow, will debut with almost 200 sought-after pieces from designers such as Lisa Ho, Kirrily Johnson, Natasha Gan and Charlie Brown. Various one-off vintage items will also be available.

People of Queensland, you can relax!

Guess what guys! Your problems are now over: Justin Bieber is praying for you.

I’m afraid that I sadly, lack such privileged access to any divine powers, so any of you readers who might want to help — pitiful as any of your efforts might be in contrast to the awesome majesty Justin Bieber has brought to bear on the flooding — you can donate to Queensland Flood Relief via this link.

Post based on this one.

Lest We Forget

Here is an exerpt from a poem that is rather fitting, considering the current day of the month, which is also known as Rememberance Day in Australia, In the US, It is refered to as Veteran’s Day.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

The poem honoured the World War I British war dead of that time and in particular the British Expeditionary Force, which had by then already had high casualty rates on the developing Western Front. The poem was published when the Battle of the Marne was foremost in people’s minds.

Salvos ask for donations, not rubbish

The Salvation Army is pleading for people not to

leave unusable goods and rubbish outside its stores during the festive

season, saying the clean-up costs the charity $6 million annually.

Salvos

Stores general manager Neville Barrett said there was an increase of

unusable goods dumped outside stores after hours at this time of year,

while quality goods were stolen.

He said the Salvos were forced

to deal with more than 20 million kilograms of rubbish annually across

Australia, the equivalent of taking 4,000 truckloads to the tip.

“Part

of the problem is the public’s misconception that everything is

recyclable and can be used by the Salvation Army,” he said.

“This is not the case because if an item cannot be reused or be recycled it should not be donated.

“We

wish to emphasise that we cannot accept broken furniture, stained,

ripped or torn mattresses … we ask people not to dump these and

similar items outside our stores over Christmas as it places an

unnecessary burden on the Salvation Army.”

Mr Barrett said the Salvos greatly appreciated the support from the community for the stores.

He said donating goods helped those in need and also cared for the environment by reducing landfill.

“We ask that people continue to donate,” he said.

“We ask that people do clarify what is appropriate to donate.”

People can check what to donate by calling 13 72 58 or by visiting salvos.org.au/stores.

Time for some news

The game project I was working on, Code Biohazard, will be reborn. It is planned to be a 2D RPG based in a shattered world. Originally I planned to make a Pokemon fan game, but I changed it to be something far more mature. Though the original project will live on on that site I just linked and will be finished.

Other than the game project, I am still working on my Pokemon Program Suite and its various addons, including an Offline Pokedex. Development is slow thanks to lack of input from half of the development team, but I am making progress and BETA 5 should be available shortly.
